Q: What is a Manzilian and a Mankini?
A: This is a service that removes hair on a person with a penis. You can read the exact descriptions on the Men’s Waxing page.
Q: Will it hurt?
A: The short answer is yes, of course… we’re removing your hair! The question to ask is: how bad will it hurt? Definitely not as bad as you think though! It’s a very fast, quick sting and we always apply pressure after each wax pull to alleviate the pain sooner. Keep in mind, people don’t get waxed for the experience… it’s always for the amazing results! It’s worth it and you’ll love it.
Q: What can be done to minimize the pain?
A: Don’t drink caffeine before your wax appointment. It’s a stimulant and it will make the sting linger a little longer. Painkillers such as Tylenol and Ibuprofen don’t do much, but they don’t hurt anything either. Also, please don’t drink alcohol before your wax, as it will cause minor bleeding.
Q: What should be done before my first appointment?
A: If you shave, there will need to be at least ½" re-growth to wax the first time. If your hair is more than 1” long, we ask that you trim it to ½". The Esthetician’s at Waxologie do not trim hairs. It’s always nice if you are fresh in that area by showering or there wet wipes available in the bathroom.
Q: What is the maintenance schedule?
A: Your first wax will grow a bit faster than subsequent waxes and you will notice re-growth in about 10-14 days. By the 3rd regular wax (done every 3-5 weeks) you will notice that your hair is finer and not as dense, and therefore you will feel less discomfort. The re-growth will be slowed and you will notice that it can take approximately 3 weeks to come back, so you will feel basically hair free most of the time.
Q: What type of people wax?
A: We have clients that range from 20 to 80+ years old. Some are students, CEO’s, professionals, business owners, waiters, athletes, heterosexual, homosexual and transgender. The employee’s at Waxologie do not judge and we’re happy to help everyone!
Q: Why do people wax?
A: Many people prefer the look and the smooth/clean feeling; plus their partners typically like the look and feel too. Shaving is usually very irritating to the skin and time consuming.
Q: What happens if an erection occurs?
A: We know it happens. It’s an adrenal response from the body, not a sexual one. We are Licensed Estheticians who have worked in this field for many years and we've seen it before...no need to be embarrassed. If it’s accidental, it will typically subside very soon after wax starts being pulled off. If the erection does not subside, then you may have some hairs left on the area. As long as we mutually respect each other, there is no problem.
Q: Do you provide any Erotic Services?
A: Not a chance!! And 99.9% of our clients would never think to ask that question, but just in case that .1% needs clarification... we will answer it. At Waxologie, waxing is NOT a sexual experience, it is a hair removal treatment. We are performing a procedure and trying to do the best job possible for you. Please don’t disrespect us by flirting, making suggestive comments, telling us about your sexual experiences or preferences. You will be charged 200% of the service, banned from Waxologie, the NC Esthetics community will know your name and the police might even be called. So if that is what you are after, then Waxologie is NOT the place for you!
